This is a list of government services and non-profit organizations in Ontario providing immediate assistance and ongoing support to survivors of sexual abuse and sexual assault.
Victims’ Bill of Rights – Ministry of the Attorney General (Ontario)
An Act Respecting Victims of Crime – Victims’ Bill of Rights, was proclaimed as law on June 11, 1996. The Act supports and recognizes the needs of victims of crime.

Ontario Victims Services Secretariat (OVSS)
OVSS provides direct services to victims of crime across Ontario and funds community organizations that deliver support services to victims. Programs and Services for Victims of Crime:
- Victim Support Line: is a province-wide, bilingual, toll-free information line providing a range of services to victims of crime. You can call the Victim Support Line toll-free at 1-888-579-2888, or in the Greater Toronto Area, 416-314-2447.
- Victim Crisis Assistance & Referral Services (VCARS) program provides immediate, on-site service to victims of crime 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
- Victim Quick Response Program (VQRP) provides immediate assistance to victims of violent crime. Through this program, eligible victims who have no other financial means are able to access the following three services: Emergency expenses, Funeral expenses, Counselling. - SupportLink: Through the SupportLink program, victims at risk of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking receive help developing a personal safety plan, information and referral to community services, follow-up contact, and, where appropriate, a cell phone pre-programmed to dial 911. - Victim / Witness Assistance Program (VWAP: provides information, assistance and support to victims and witnesses of crime to increase their understanding of, and participation in, the criminal court process.
- Child Victim / Witness Program: offers support and services to child victims and witnesses during the criminal court process.
- Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Counselling Program: provides short-term, immediate counselling for child victims of Internet sexual exploitation. A victim’s immediate family members may also be eligible.

The Suspected Child Abuse and Neglect (SCAN) Program
The Suspected Child Abuse and Neglect (SCAN) Program is a program run by The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids). SCAN is managed by a team of healthcare professionals at the hospital who offer care, support and assessment to children and teenagers who may have been maltreated, and their families. The SCAN Program provides a link between SickKids and community doctors and hospitals, Children’s Aid Societies, police, schools and other community agencies.
After a referral has been made to the Children’s Aid Society, SCAN should be contacted urgently if a child or teenager has been sexually assaulted recently and/or has signs and symptoms related to maltreatment.

Centre for Treatment of Sexual Abuse and Childhood Trauma
The Centre for Treatment of Sexual Abuse and Childhood Trauma was established in 1991 to provide individual, family and couples therapy for individuals who have been sexually abused or otherwise traumatized or stressed by life experiences. The Centre for Treatment is an incorporated registered charity which participates in advocacy for survivors of trauma and abuse, promotes public awareness, and offers training and education to professionals. In particular, the Centre is respected and recognized by our colleagues in the mental health community for providing supervision and consultation to mental health professionals regarding the treatment of complex trauma and dissociative disorders as well as practicum training for graduate level university students in trauma-focused therapy.

Ontario Network of Sexual Assault/Domestic Violence Treatment Centres
Established by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care in 1993, the Network provides leadership and support to 35 hospital-based sexual assault and domestic violence treatment centres across Ontario.
Together, we ensure that women, children and men who are victims/survivors of sexual assault or domestic violence have access to comprehensive and timely support to address their individual medical and legal needs. Our members are the nurses, social workers, physicians and support staff of the various treatment centres that, together, form the Network.

The Scarborough Hospital Sexual Assault Care Centre
We are a specialized team of doctors, nurses and counsellors. We provide emergency medical treatment and emotional support to youth (over the age of 12), women, and men who have experienced a recent sexual assault. Our services are confidential and free of charge. We are able to take care of victims who have physical disabilities. We will arrange for interpreters to help us understand individuals who have difficulty with the English language. We are on call 24 hours a day.

The Men’s Project
The Men’s Project is a non-profit charitable men’s counselling agency that has been providing services to men and their families since 1997.
We provide individual and couple counselling, as well as a specialized healing program for men who have experienced sexual or physical abuse as children, anger management, emotional intelligence and fathering.
Our services are specifically designed for men and professionally facilitated by accredited psychotherapists. We tailor our individual programs to specifically meet men’s needs in a way that speaks to men.

The Sexual Assault Centre for Quinte and District
A non-profit agency that provides free information and individual and group counselling to women and men, 16 years of age and older, who are victims of sexual assault. Sexual assault is any unwanted act of a sexual nature imposed by one or more persons upon another.
Our services are provided in Belleville, Trenton, Madoc, Picton and Bancroft. We do not provide counselling services to children, but we DO counsel adults who were sexually assaulted/abused as children. We also provide support services to non-offending parents of victims.
